"The amphora is a style of vessel used extensively throughout ancient Greece andRome. In crude form, they were the shipping container of the day carrying wine, olive oil and grains while in more refined form, they were used extensively in artwork of the period or to contain ashes of the deceased or precious liquids such as perfumes. I imagine this vessel containing rare herbs, gathered from the forest, to make medicinal or magical potions."

Bob Rotche lives and works in Virginia. His work has been featured in several AAW exhibitions, and is in a number of private collections.
