Yepeyep
River rock, madrone
6.5 x 6.5 x 8 inches

A completely unexpected and improbable collaboration!

Hans Weissflog is known for his intricately detailed, technically demanding work, often executed in exotic woods with precision and control. Christian Burchard, by contrast, embraces the unpredictable nature of wet madrone, allowing the wood’s movement and transformation to shape his forms.

In this shared piece, Hans departs from his usual material to work in Christian’s favored madrone, applying his signature techniques to a wood that resists predictability and any attempt at control. Christian responds with mark-making and surface treatments. The rock? A final, ambiguous gesture that could have come from either man.
