A cavity carved into cade juniper quietly opens the space of the sculpture. The wood, with its warm grain and its persistent resinous scent, introduces an immediate sensory dimension, almost primordial. From this material emerges a form in boxwood: a fragile core in formation, compact and luminous. Its contained scale and the precious density of the wood evoke the vertiginous fragility of emergence and the primary power that springs from it. Two presences: one holding, one coming into form, both obeying a shared urgency. Between cavity and form, the sculpture quietly holds the instant in which something begins to exist.

Coralie Saramago changed career direction at the age of 33 to embrace the art of woodcarving. She received training in woodturning and sculpture from the France's top woodturners at the Escoulen school of woodturning (Var, France) and specially from Alain Mailland between 2018 and 2021.

For the past five years, she has been creating fine sculptures in selected woods, using a combination of turning and carving. Her art is an invitation to an emotional and sensory journey. Technique, precision and delicacy are placed at the service of the line, with a lightness that tends towards elevation.

Since 2024, Coralie Saramago career is taking off and she did exhibit at “Révélations”, the major International Fine Craft & Creation Biennal (Paris 2025).
