Women in Turning
Virtual Chapter Members

In 2014 at AAW’s symposium in Phoenix, a group of women met to discuss forming a virtual chapter of the AAW. We have done just that and the chapter is called Women in Turning (WIT). For our first activity, we decided to collaborate on a project for the Pittsburgh symposium’s Instant Gallery and EOG auction: an egg crate full of eggs turned by members of WIT. What could be more fitting! Janet Collins from Vermont constructed the crate after design consultation with Dixie Biggs in Florida. The WIT egg crate is infinitely expandable by adding additional layers of crates, which can ultimately accommodate dozens and dozens of various-sized eggs.
Pictured eggs by: Dixie Biggs,Betty Scarpino, Sharon Doughtie,Janet Collins,Donna Zils Banfield,Linda Ferber,Sandy Davis/Cynthia Gibson,Camille Wall,Sally Ault,Sherry Hockenbery,Janice Levy,Margaret Lospinuso.

About ten women sent eggs ahead of the symposium, and their eggs are pictured with the crate. At the symposium in Pittsburgh, other women will drop off their turned and decorated eggs, which will result in many, many more eggs and perhaps additional layers to the crate! To date the women contributing eggs are:
