The basis for this piece is to suggest the significance and fragile nature of water-one of Earth's fundamental elements-with respect to the environment within which we live.

J. Paul Fennell has been a woodturner since the early 1970’s, an AAW member since 1986, and for over 30 years has focused on the embellishment of hollow forms for creative expression and interpretation. Educated as an engineer, Paul’s techniques are often inspired from self-discovered boundaries between mathematics and art, as well as from personal life experiences. Paul’s work can be found in many private and museum collections, among which include the Smithsonian, Washington, DC; the Museum of Arts and Design, New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Peabody-Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts.
