About the Artist
About Jérôme Blanc
Jérôme Blanc was born in Geneva in 1978 and grew up in a family keen on promoting creativity. He became acquainted with manual labor at an early age in the locksmith shop of his father, who is also passionate about boat restoration. After five years of study at the School of Arts and Crafts in Geneva in woodworking and carpentry, obtaining his degrees in 1998 and 1999, he started travelling abroad. His creations are characteristically experimental, and his new pieces are perfect illustrations of his sources of inspiration - the natural world and design in the urban environment. Jérôme cuts into masses of wood using the lathe to sculpt his works which in their final form weigh no more than a few ounces. Many hours of calm concentration are needed to refine each piece to give the wood a fine soft quality. The impeccable results of this long process are works that speak of serenity, simplicity and clarity. Jérôme Blanc is resolutely an artist of his times, demonstrating a deep concern for the environment and the need for modern man to return to a state of greater simplicity – preoccupations which are clearly reflected in his creations.
He regularly takes part in exhibitions in Switzerland, Europe and the United States. His works have been acquired by various public and private institutions, such as the Musée Départemental du Bugey-Valromey, The Center for Art in Wood in Philadelphia and the AAW Gallery of Wood Art in St Paul, Minnesota.

All EOG auction items will be available for on-site viewing beginning Thursday, June 23 at 5:30PM CDT at the Kansas City Convention Center. Remote bidding on-line opens May 26, 2017. The live auction starts at 7:30PM (Central) on Friday, June 10. Remote bidders will be able to bid live during the auction via a live audio and/or video feeds. You must be pre-registered to bid online.
Downtown Kansas City, Missouri tax rate of 10.475% will be applied to all purchases paid for and picked up at the Symposium site.

The American Association of Woodturners will, as a service to Buyers, arrange to have the property packed, insured, and shipped via UPS at the request, expense and entire risk of the Buyer. Any claims will be between carrier and Buyer.

Bidders who bid from off-site and are not present at the live auction understand and acknowledge that they may not be able to inspect an item as well as if they examined it in person.
2. DISPUTES: The American Association of Woodturners shall designate the winning bidder after each item is auctioned. If a dispute arises between two or more bidders, the American Association of Woodturners reserves the right to reopen bidding. The American Association of Woodturner's designation of a buyer shall be final.
3. BIDDING & PRE-BIDDING: The American Association of Woodturners is providing internet and live bidding as a service to bidders. Bidders acknowledge and understand that this service may or may not function correctly the day of the auction. Under no circumstances shall a bidder have any claim against the American Association of Woodturners or anyone else if the internet service fails to operate correctly before or during the live auction.
4. The American Association of Woodturners has the right to accept or deny bidders from attending their auctions, both in person and online.
5. Online bidders agree and understand that they will not be invoiced and may not be able to pay until the entire, onsite auction is over. All purchases will be charged to your credit card immediately following the auction. Any other payment arrangement must be arranged and approved by the American Association of Woodturners a minimum of 48 hours prior to the auction.
6. The American Association of Woodturners makes no representations whatsoever that the Buyer of a work of art will acquire any reproductions rights thereto.
