"I've been thinking about the theme while learning to carve these tiny flying helicopters and collecting maple "helicopter" seeds on my walks. I had a bench littered with both while drawing all kinds of ideas for this piece and it finally occurred to me that together they represented two points on a really beautiful evolutionary map and that might be all anybody needed."
