Artist’s Note
Patterns feature strongly in my art work, so I felt an instant connection to the theme. I draw inspiration from natural shapes and repeat them to create patterns. This piece was inspired by a seed pod of a pittosporum (kohuhu) a native New Zealand tree.


About Robbie Graham
Robbie Graham is well-known in New Zealand and internationally as an artist who pushes the boundaries of wood turning.

He's inspired by natural designs found in the botanical world and the Volcanic Plateau. With over thirty years' experience, Robbie enjoys using advanced techniques and complicated procedures, including multi-axis and off-set turning to create intriguing forms in wood. His meticulous work features unique surface effects including subtle carving, finely textured pyrography patterns and touches of metallic paint.

A sought-after and accomplished demonstrator in Australasia, Robbie exhibits in several galleries and has work is numerous private collections in New Zealand and overseas.
