In ancient Rome, amphorae were everyday containers used to transport and store oil, wine, and grain. Produced in great numbers, they were among the first functional objects designed to be discarded once emptied. This piece revisits the amphora as a space of memory rather than utility. Its contents have fossilized, transforming interior void into solid matter. Through erosion and rupture, inside and outside become indistinguishable. Holding ppace becomes an act of endurance, preserving the trace of use, time, and abandonment.

Lorin Brückin is a French woodturner based near Carcassonne. Since 2018, he has explored the dialogue between wood and other materials. Drawing on his experience as a heating engineer, he incorporates copper, zinc, and stone into his work. His creations have evolved from functional objects—boxes, trays, candle holders—into free-flowing, often spherical sculptures, inspired by nature and Nordic influences. Today, his focus is on revealing metal hidden beneath wood, creating pieces that suggest a secret world beneath the surface.
