The nature/nurture theme suggests to me the effort to ponder two competing/complimentary parts of a whole. So my 'whole' is two parts, ultimately indivisible, with tangles that can't be unraveled- reflecting the difficulty of knowing what is nature and what is nurture.

About Marjin
I am a turner/maker based in Portland, Oregon. Although I ran a business in a completely unrelated field, I always had a drive to make things..... And in my spare time I attended workshops, made furniture and learned to turn. After selling my business, in 2015 I attended the six month turning course at the Escoulen School in Aiguines, France, with Jean Francois Escoulen and Yann Marot, to broaden and deepen my turning skills. I now have a workshop in Portland and teach woodturning to women and kids in the Columbia Gorge. My own work frequently touches on the theme of balance - maybe trying to find some in an increasingly chaotic world. And I often cut up and reassemble turned pieces, focussing on the interactions of simple volumes, and adorn them with color and texture.
