Folklore dances in Mexico were a form of expression used for religious purposes during pre-Columbian times, and as a way to mock the Spanish crown during the colony.
El Jarabe Tapatio, commonly referred to as El Jarabe, represents the courtship of a man and a woman, with the woman first rejecting the man's advances, then eventually accepting them.
The most traditional outfit is called the "China Poblana." The blouse and skirt combination is named after a woman from India who came to Mexico in the early 19th century. Her dress was copied and then adapted in the State of Puebla.

Roberto Ferrer was born and raised in Mexico where he was exposed to arts and crafts at an early age. The passion for creating was born while visiting a cousin's woodworking shop which he visited often. His natural curiosity to learn how things work and are constructed led him to take on different jobs such as Auto mechanics, body shop, and construction among others. In 2011 started carving sculptural vessels out of end-grained wood, which eventually led him to take on woodturning in 2013.

Roberto currently lives in suburban Chicago where he combines family and the passion for creating.
