About the Artist:
My life as an artist began in childhood, learning the intricacies of Persian rug weaving from my mother; the complex geometry and tight symmetry that are much evident in my current work.

I am not a formally trained woodworker; instead I developed my own methods, techniques and tools over years of rigorous experimentation.
I draw from a wide palette of North American woods such as maple, cherry, walnut mixed with intensely coloured exotics: bloodwood, purpleheart and wenge. In my work I incorporate several techniques: inlaying, laminating, turning, carving and sanding.
The many small pieces in each form are cut and aligned according to grain, colour and pattern and shaped and polished on a large lathe and then varnished to a high gleam.

My newest adventures in wood are free form sculptures, organic and abstract in shape. I consider myself fortunate to work with material that is beautiful, alive and transforming.

My aim is to continue seeking new ideas to express myself, explore my imagination and bring it to the reality.
