Stephen’s love of art draws inspiration from the natural beauty and cultural aspects of the Pacific Rim where he strives to conceive and create pieces that reach out and connect with others - works to stir the viewer’s awe or evoke a moment in time.

Stephen Hatcher was a stone carver who began woodturning in 1998. That early influence led to incorporating mineral crystals into his earliest woodturning designs. This unique style of artwork has earned him many awards including recognition by Southwest Art magazine as the most innovative wood artist in 2007. Since that year he has also been featured in countless magazines and seven books, including most recently "100 Northwest Artists, “CAST”, and “Audacious”. Stephen's work is found in numerous private, corporate, museum and institutional collections around the world. Most recently his pieces were added to the Denali National Park and Gates of the Arctic National Park collections, as well as the permanent collection in The Smithsonian Museum of American Art.
