You Can Call Me Al, a study of elegant austerity in contrast with narrative excess.
–“Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess” ~ Oscar Wilde
–“The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom” ~ William Blake
–“Excess on occasion is exhilarating. It prevents moderation from acquiring the deadening effect of a habit.” ~ W. Somerset Maugham

I began with a vision of the two vessels bound together at a small intersection, simply and elegantly. As soon as I considered colored interiors, though, it became ever more complicated and risky. Sadly, Bill’s spirit chose to not commune with me once I was on this riotous path. None the less, I worked to honor his splendid skills by finely finishing the exteriors.
