Tiger Maple in the Round
Bigleaf maple
2" x 17.5" x 2"

Artist's Note

"I enjoy turning highly-figured wood. My favorite is Acer macrophyllum (bigleaf maple). This platter is turned from a particularly well-figured piece of "tiger" maple, which turned beautifully. It is finished with multiple hand-rubbed coats of Tung oil and urethane brought to a soft satin sheen. The stand is included."

About Tom Wirsing

Tom Wirsing grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, in the Shenandoah Valley, an historic center of woodworking, and has had a lifelong fascination with wood. He began turning wood in his father’s workshop as a teenager.
