Artist's Note

"This piece is an ongoing exploration based on interlocking latticework found on doors and windows in China. Interlocking boxes is a recurring theme in Chinese architecture. The traditional latticework represents some of the Chinese philosophies such as longevity, wealth, and good fortune."

About Curt Theobald

Curt Theobald, an artist based in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, has been a full-time studio woodturner since 2002. His segmented works have been exhibited in numerous museum and gallery events nationwide including the Riley Galleries, AAW Gallery of Wood Art, Collectors of Wood Art and SOFA Chicago and New York. His background as a cabinetmaker and his knowledge of wood movement and precise joinery are apparent in his work. He has demonstrated segmented turning both nationally and internationally. His work resides in public and private collections worldwide including the Honolulu Museum of Art, and Ivinson Memorial Hospital.
